The repository of digital educational units is a central database in which digital educational content is stored. The educational content, which is tailored to individual objects, is often tailored in a variety of ways to the different needs of individual learners.
These learning outcomes (objects) are often offered on the web or on CD-ROMs, and may be printed materials; A learning object can be used more than once for different purposes. XML is used to describe learning objects and store their information.
Learning Object Repository
The learning module repository achieves mutual functions and is compatible with the following three models:
1- Automated authoring application:
This application enables the reuse of stored learning objects by providing authors with learning templates to either reuse, design new learning objects, or combine old and new learning objects. Authors can be experts, instructional designers, media producers, and more.
2- Effective executive links, Dynamic Delivery Interface:
In order to provide educational objects according to the needs of learners, pre-tests, and various inquiries, and this requires the formation of highly effective links. This is important for learners to quickly access information by researching resources and supporting assessment tests that serve as feedback to judge the functioning of the whole system.
3- Administrative requirements:
It aims to manage student registration processes in subjects, control their interactions with educational courses, and complete administrative tasks related to the educational process. Here, the educational content management system (LCMS) and the learning management system (LMS) participate in providing these multiple functions.
Metadata information
A Learning Object Metadata is a data model, usually written in XML, that is used to describe and design Learning Object repositories. The purpose of using descriptive information is to facilitate the search for educational content that fits specific criteria, and it also supports the reuse of content, by helping to explore its characteristics and facilitating compatibility with learning management systems (LMS) and the content management systems LCMS through which it operates, within the framework of the system eLearning.
The metadata of a Learning Object contains several elements by which a Learning Object is described, such as:
#. Subject: It is the subject of the educational object (the source), and it is expressed in key phrases and words.
#. Description: A text description of the content provided by the Learning Object.
#. Language: The language used to formulate the learning object.
#. Author: The person or entity responsible for the educational object and making it available to the beneficiaries.
#. Copyrights: The copyright of the educational object.
The educational object must have a Learning Objective that distinguishes it, defines its function, and must not be associated with educational objects or branch out from other educational objects. The descriptive information data is recorded through the CMS content management systems through which the educational object is prepared and processed, as this data is recorded and dealt with programmatically.

Multimedia Education Recourse for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT)
This repository is supported by a group of colleges, universities, and educational institutes in the United States, and its digital contents are available to all users. It is designed for higher education, and its database contains more than 10,000 peer-reviewed and rated online learning materials.
